A Woman should……..
-have enough money within her control to move out and rent a place of her own, even if she never wants to or needs to
-have something perfect to wear if the employer ,or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour.
-have a youth she's content to leave behind.
-have a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to retelling it in her old age.
-have a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra.
- have one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who lets her cry.
-have a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family.
-have eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honored.
- have a feeling of control over her destiny.
-know how to fall in love without losing herself.
- know how to quit a job, break up with a lover, and confront a friend without ruining the friendship.
-know when to try harder...and when to walk away.
-know that she can't change the length of her calves, the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents.
-know that her childhood may not have been perfect...but it's over.
-know what she would and wouldn't do for love or more.
- know how to live alone...even if she doesn't like it.
- know whom she can trust, whom she can't, and why she shouldn't take it personally.
-know where to go; be it to her best friend's kitchen table...or a charming Inn in the woods...when her soul needs soothing.
- know what she can and can't accomplish in a day...a month...and a year
I like all of these but the ones in bold particularly speak to me

This, plus a long straight tail, enables them to climb and maintain their balance high up in the treetops.
The koala is one of the most popular animals for Melbourne Zoo's overseas visitors. Unique marsupials, koalas never need to drink water because they get moisture from their Eucalypt leaf diet.

AustraliaAAA!!!!
I'm so excited to be here and enjoying it! My billet family is wonderful and the school looks great and lots of things are planned for the next few weekends J
So I've been sleeping off my jetleg, we are 13 hours ahead of Canada so it's Sunday morning at 8:30ish so it is Saturday night at 7:30ish in Canada….weird.
Getting used to the accents is not bad as long as they don't talk very fast and some of the words they use for various things differ from ours so you get used to some new words for things. Here are some of the differences:
Canada Australia
counter (as in kitchen counter) - bench
right away - straight away
lots - heaps
think - reckon
slot machines - pokies
ground hamburger - mince meat
side walk/walk way - foot walk
parking lot - car park
mall - plaza or shopping center
grocery store - super market
Yield - Give Way
shopping cart - trolley
rental car - hire car
prep - kindergarten
$ Their money is also hard to get used to because they have .50$ coins that are bigger than our twoonies and they have .20$ coins and NO pennies – nothing worth 1 cent, everything is rounded to the 5 cent. The neatest thing about their money and it feels weird handing someone a nickel size coin to pay for something because the coin it worth $2 and small like a nickel.
The food here is good and similar to home but they do have Kangaroo Meat in the grocery store , super market, Vegemite that I think only Australians like and Crumpits which are spongy, doughey bread.
Stay tuned for more on Australia and the Adventures that will come!
Pictures!
For whatever reason I have been having a hard time uploading pictures properly and they did not post in the last post so here they are:

Toronto Trip
I have been missing away in Toronto for vacation and have not posted since the Monday before leaving. I was having such a wonderful time on vacation that I didn't post either so here is some pictures and details of our little trip away:
r. and I came to Toronto for 6 days to visit k. and c. and r. came with as a little get away for us before he saw me off to Australia, where I am currently writing from!
We arrived on Wednesday night and just relaxed and settled in.
Then Thursday k. and c. took us out for a lovely breakfast! We went on a tour all around Toronto and went to Bridle Path which is where you can see all the many of millions of $$$ homes, they were huge! Complete withy fancy cras in the driveway. Then we went to Loma Castle but did not pay the $20/person to enter the old castle and look around but I think it would be cool to see and the have an old show. Then we went Dundas and Yonge Square where there was so much going on and it was Canada Day so r. and I wore our matching skirts, which we bought from Old Navy for $5 and then they sent a shirt to the troops for every shirt sold, yay us!
We had a lovely dinner at Milestones on the patio way up. In the pic above you can see the sign and right under is where the patio is. Below is us eating there.
We walked around and saw all the Canada Festivities, walked ALL around Toronto and all the way down Yonge to downtown and went to the fireworks that evening. We sat near the marina in front of the water and it was awesome. The fireworks lasted for more than 30 minutes!
On Friday r. and I went out on your own because k. and c. both had to work but it was nice spending a little us time together! We took the subway with k. and got off at Dundas to go shopping at the Eatons Center and then we had lunch at the Hardrock and r. got a collectors glass and t-shirt.
On Saturday we went to my favourite spot of the whole trip……MARINELAND! It was so much fun. I love marine animals and the orcas are probably my fav but I did get to feed and touch a Beluga whale and we went to the Splash session which was cool and when they say you will get wet in this section, YOU WILL! We went on rides- the super scary dragon roller coaster, upside down and upside down and UPSIDE DOWN AGAIN! It was cool tho and nice to be able to walk around and see the animals for the underground viewing tanks. I got t-shirt and some little souvenirs for my cousins and my friend b.'s kids J Before leaving we saved the best for last and watched the big show with walruses, sea lions and dolphins! It was AMAZING!
The trainers also did a great job with the animals and were in the water with them and everything.
After Marineland we went to Niagara Falls, which was AWESOME! r. and never been so seeing it was cool and then we went on the Maid of the Mist and got so close to the falls, it was ridiculous! c. has lots of cool pics of us on the boat and I will get them soon and post one for sure. We got all wet and the wind was blowing around. At one point I thought that we might go right under the falls because we were that CLOSE!
It was packed there, so so many people and it was gorgeous out (almost too hot)
Sunday was k. and r.'s birthday! Now k. has joined me at 25! Woo! It was cool celebrating my fiancĂ© and best friends' birthday together. We went swimming and to a nice Italian restaurant where the server was a bit rude at first and when r. asked for bruschetta, the server corrected him by repeating it in a strong Italian accent(even though he is not Italian) but soon changed his tune and gave us free shots on the house – Yay us! We had a few drinks and a lot of laughs, a lot of laughs!
Monday was our last day together and k., r., and I went shopping and relaxed, having dinner at the Pickle Barrel!
And sadly Tuesday k. said good-bye and went to work and then r. and I spent some time together and then went off to the airport where we thought we had more time together but the US and Canada gates are separated so sadly we had to said good-bye earlier than I thought. I cried and he cried and we hugged and kissed and hugged and kissed more and then said good-bye. I'm missing him so much but that was the beginning of my journey to Australia…….
